Investigative podcasts
I created and hosted the investigative podcast The Pitcairn Trials with Audio Always. It uncovered new details about a decades-long fight for justice on a small British island in the middle of the South Pacific.
It was picked as an Apple Podcasts global “Series Essential” - “These series are the pinnacle of podcasting and we celebrate them as some of the medium’s greatest achievements.” It was licensed by BBC Sounds and Wondery.
I was nominated Best Host at the 2025 British Podcast Awards and the series was nominated Best Factual Series at the 2025 ARIA awards.
The Times’ 5-star review called it “engrossing and quietly horrifying….in other hands it would make me queasy. But Jones handles it with admirable sensitivity”, adding it is “the best true crime series I’ve heard in a long time — I was gripped.” The Observer’s Miranda Sawyer called it “gripping” and “handled with impressive sensitivity by Luke Jones…Jones is excellent throughout”. The Financial Times called it “compelling” story told with “the utmost sensitivity”
I then followed that up in 2026 with The Surgeon Of St Helena. It uncovers an ongoing scandal on a different British island. Victims of a rogue surgeon have accused the island’s government of a cover-up, of changing the law to frustrate their access to justice. Police tell us the authorities even impeded their investigation.

I have presented many of Radio 4’s biggest programmes. I started hosting PM when I was 24 and went on to host the World at One, Broadcasting House, Any Questions, Front Row and Saturday Live.
For many years I was a reporter for the BBC Radio 4 news sequence programmes ……
For 2 years I presented iPM. The show was a spin-off of PM and was made using the contributions of Radio 4 listeners…

I hosted Breakfast on Times Radio for two years. The station is a mix of news, robust debate and political interviews.

Writing
I’m was a theatre critic for one of the UK’s most read newspapers, The Daily Mail, doing first night reviews for the main paper and contributing to their Friday arts section. I also occasionally contribute to The Times & Sunday Times with news pieces and features. I recently wrote a Sunday Times Magazine based on my Pitcairn podcast series.
